Uses

Ranitidine is used to cure stomach and intestinal ulcers and to prevent them from coming back after recovery. The use of this drug is also used for the treatment of stomach and throat (esophageal) problems (such as erosive  esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease-GERD, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome). It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in your stomach. It relieves symptoms like cough, which do not go away, stomachache, heartburn and difficulty swallowing. Ranitidine belongs to a category of medicines known as H2 blockers.

How To Use Ranitidine Hcl

Directly take Ranitidine by mouth or by your doctor at the meal, usually daily or twice daily. This can be determined 4 times a day for some situations. If you are taking this medicine once a day, it is usually taken after the evening meal or before sleeping.

Measure the dose carefully using a measuring spoon or a special medication spoon available from your pharmacist. Do not use domestic spoon or you can not get the right dose.

The dose and length of treatment is based on your medical condition and medical reaction. In children, dose may also be based on body weight. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. You can take other medicines (e.g, antacids) for your condition recommended by your doctor.

Take Ranitidine regularly so that it can get the most benefit. To help you remember, take it every day at the same time. Do not increase your dose or take it more than it has been fixed. Do not stop taking it without your doctor’s approval, as it can delay the treatment of ulcers.

Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.

Side Effects

Headache, constipation or diarrhea may occur. If any of these effects persists or worsens, tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Remember that your doctor has prescribed Ranitidine because he or she has decided that your benefit is higher than the risk of side effects. Many people using this drug do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor immediately if you have a serious side effect, including: a blurred vision, changes in mental / mood (eg, movement, confusion, depression, hallucinations), easy bleeding / injury, increased breast, severe fatigue, fast or Slow / irregular heartbeats, symptoms of infection (such as sore throat which does not go away, fever, chills), severe stomach / stomach ache, dark colic, skin yellowing / eyes

A very serious allergic reaction to Ranitidine is rare. However, if you see symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, get medical help immediately, including: granular, itching / swelling (especially the face / tongue / throat), severe dizziness, shortness of breath

Precautions

Before taking ranitidine, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or for other H2 blockers (e.g., cimetidine, famotidine); Or if you have any other allergens. This product may contain passive elements, which may cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using Ranitidine, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially: a certain blood disorder (porphyria), immune system problems, kidney problems, liver problems, lung disease (eg, asthma , Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), other problems of stomach (e.g., tumor).

Some symptoms may actually be signs of a more serious condition. If you get immediate medical help: jealousy / sweating / dizziness with heartburn, chest / jaw / hand / shoulder pain (especially shortness of breath, abnormal sweating), unexplained weight loss

This liquid product can contain alcohol. If you have diabetes, alcohol dependence or liver disease then it is advised to take precautions. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of this product.

Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of Ranitidine, especially confusion conditions.

Ranitidine should be used only when it is explicitly necessary during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

Ranitidine passes in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Interactions

Ranitidine can interfere with some laboratory tests (including some urine protein tests), possibly causing inaccurate test results. Ensure that the lab staff and all your doctors know that you use this medicine.

Over Dose

If someone is treated and has serious symptoms such as difficulty in getting out or breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call the Poison Control Center immediately. American residents can call their local venom control center at 1-800-222-1222. Canadians can call a provincial poison control center. The symptoms of overdose may include difficulty in walking, severe dizziness / unconsciousness.

Do not share this medication with others.

Changes in lifestyle such as stress reduction programs, preventing smoking, limiting alcohol, and changes in diet (such as caffeine and avoiding some spices) can help this drug work better. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about lifestyle changes that can benefit you.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, then as soon as you remember it, take it. If it is near the next dose time, then leave the thesis dose and set your normal dose. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store in a tightly closed, light-resistant container away from moisture and sunlight. Consult your pharmacist or product label for proper storage temperature. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all drug products away from children and pets.

Until instructed to do so, do not flush the medicines under the toilet or drain them in the drain. When this period expires or does not require it, then properly release this product.
