Uses

Meropenem, sold under the brand names Merrem among others. Meropenem is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. This drug is known as carbapenem-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

How to use Meropenem Vial

If you start using Meropenem and you get a refill, then before you are available from your pharmacist, please read the Patient Information Letter. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

This medicine is given by injection in the vein directed by your doctor, usually every 8 hours.

If you are using Meropenem at home, then know all the preparations and use instructions from your health care professional. Before using, check this product blindly for particles or discoloration. If it is present then do not use the liquid. Learn how to safely store and discard medical supplies.

Dosage is based on your medical condition and treatment response. In children, dosage is also based on age and weight.

For the best effect, use this antibiotic at the same time. To help you remember, use this drug at the same time every day.

Continue using Meropenem until the end of the completed treatment period, even if the symptoms disappear after a few days. The infection can come back very quickly by closing the medication.

Side Effects

Due to the type of resistant bacteria, Meropenem can rarely cause the intestinal severity (Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea). Tell your doctor immediately if you develop: diarrhea that does not stop stomach pain, stomachache / spasms, blood / mucus.

Precautions

Before using Meropenem, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or for penicillins or cephalosporins; Or if you have any other allergens. This product can have passive elements, which can cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this drug, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially: brain disorders (such as visits, head injury, tumor), kidney disease, stomach / intestinal diseases (e.g colitis).

Meropenem can rarely cause headache, numbness / tingling, or a tour. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any such activity for which you need a vigilance or a clear vision unless you are sure you can do such activities safely.

Sodium in some forms of this drug is sodium. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are on a salt-restricted diet or if you have a condition that may worsen if you have more salt (such as congestive heart failure).

Meropenem can not work because of live bacterial vaccines (like typhoid vaccine). Do not vaccinate / vaccinate while using this drug unless your doctor tells you.

Interactions

Over Dose

If someone is treated and has serious symptoms like having trouble going out or breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call the Poison Control Center immediately. US residents can call their local venom control center at 1-800-222-1222. Canadians can call a provincial poison control center.

Missed Dose

For the best possible benefit, it is important to get every prescribed dose of this drug as a guideline. If you miss a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately to establish a new dose schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Storage
