GENERIC NAME(S): Aripiprazole

Uses

Aripiprazole, sold under the brand name Abilify among others. Abilify is used to treat certain mental / mood disorders (such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, Torture disorder and irritability related to autistic disorder). It can also be used in combination with other medicines for the treatment of depression. Abilify is known as an antipsychotic drug (atypical type). It works by helping to restore the balance of some natural chemicals in the brain (neurotransmitters).

This medication can reduce the hallucinations and improve your concentration. It helps you to think more clearly and positive about yourself, feels less fright, and takes a more active part in everyday life. Abilify can treat severe mood swings and reduce how often the mood swing occurs.

How to use Abilify

Read the medication guide and, if available, the patient information leaflet provided by your pharmacist, when you start taking Abilify and every time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Directly medicate Abilify with your mouth or without food, usually daily once. Dosage is based on your medical condition, treatment response, age and other medicines you may be taking. Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs and herbal products). To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication on low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.

Before taking Abilify, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or if you have any other allergens. This product may contain passive materials (such as propylene glycol), which can cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Over Dose

Missed Dose
